• Hi,

since playing around with my pci Nvidia 8500 card and also after reverting back to onboard ATI3200 I know see a huge performance drop when activating high quality software upscaling in XBMC.
While upscaling is enabled even SD Videos play at max. 16FPS.
Disabling upscaling immediately fixes that issue.
I am running SVN rev. 15639 right now and using Catalyst 8.9 from ati.com.

    Anyone else experiencing that?

  • Confirmed on my rig too- i suffered audio and video going severely out of sync as well, only happened in newer builds.

  • Well actually I think it did happen before, dunno what the latest svn was you used before beta1, but I am pretty sure, I first saw this few days before the release of beta1 in my svn build. Actually I thought it was due to my switching of vga cards, but obviously it wasn't.

  • Hey,

ehm, no you got me wrong. Right now, no matter if Nvidia 8500GT or 3200 onboard - results in 16FPS stuttering video when SW Upscale is enabled.
I am simply not sure if I broke anything in Ubuntu while installing/uninstalling nvidia/ati drivers and vice versa. But I'd say right now I have a pretty clean Cat 8.9 installation using onboard HD3200.

  • Wanted to bring this up again ... any progress on this upscaling issue from a dev point of view? Enabling it still results in the poor playback mentioned above :-(

  • so to simplify this a bit:

    onboard gfx ATI3200 = 16fps w/ HQ SW Upscale
NOT onboard gfx = no problem ?

  • Also here,

I've been experiencing ~100% CPU when using software upscaling on Atalantis Beta1+ SVNs.

    didn't happen before...
